Kayak and Canoe Demo Day
Saturday June 7, 2008

This is your chance paddle a huge variety of kayaks and to buy the boat that fits your needs. This event happens only once a year. All our manufacturer's sales reps come to answer your questions. Eddyline, Necky, Current Design, Native Watercraft, Ocean Kayak, and Wenonah will be represented.

The festivities will be held at Mayville Beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch and snacks will be available from the Boy Scouts, so come hungry and help out the kids.

The Outlet of Chautauqua Lake
This paddle trip will start up May 14th and continue through September.

As you begin your paddle, imagine the paddleboats that cruised this historic waterway in the 1800's. You can still see pilings where some of these classic boats docked. Imagine the majestic "City of Jamestown" carrying hundreds of Victorian-clad passengers to Celoron, Greenhurst, Chautauqua, and Mayville.

Now, the Outlet is quieter. Blue herons and other waterfowl call it home. Frogs jump between lily pads, and turtles bask on logs. Serenity has replaced the bustle of earlier times.

We paddle every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. All paddlers with their own boats are welcome to join us for no fee. If you need a kayak or canoe, the fee is $25.

Sunset Paddle on Lake Erie
We will resume these trips in June.
Leaving Barcelona Harbor, we head west toward the great cliffs on Lake Erie. The Lake can be as smooth as glass or a little challenging. We paddle every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and paddle till dark. It can be a relaxing or exhilarating trip. Make it anything you want it to be. The sunsets are no better anywhere else on earth. All paddlers with their own boats are welcome to join us for no fee. If you need a kayak or canoe, the fee is $25.

Conewango Creek
Once an important waterway to transport timber to Pittsburgh, this lazy little creek now carries only paddlers and fishermen. A graceful dragonfly might hitch a ride on the bow of your kayak. Crazy little water bugs zip about helter-skelter as you paddle by. With luck, a bald eagle shows you how she catches lunch. Call to schedule a day and time. A minimum of 4 paddlers is required. $50/person.

Early Morning Rowing
The lake is like glass at 7:30 a.m. It is the perfect time to try your hands at the oars. If you have never been in a rowing shell, this is the time to learn. In our stable Alden shells, we will whet your appetite and give you the basics of the sport. We launch from Lowe Park in Lakewood and we will be on the water for about 1 1/2 hours. $25/person.
